Conservative MPs voted against Lib Dem proposal to introduce an emergency VAT cut that would save people £600 as they struggle with soaring prices.
Thank you to everyone who voted this May. And particular thanks to those of you who chose to support local Liberal Democrat candidates. Sandwell remains controlled by the Labour Party. We very much hope that they will take opportunities to work with the Commissioners the Government have sent in....
In our manifesto, we outline how the Liberal Democrats will continue to stand up for our six towns and be ambitious for the borough.
The Liberal Democrat Constitution starts by saying that we seek to “build and safeguard a fair, free and open society, in which it seeks to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community and in which no-one shall be enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity.” This is particularly relevant in Sandwell, one of the poorest boroughs in the country. Labour has complete control of the Council. A LibDem presence is badly needed to scrutinise their policies and decisions to ensure they are in the best interest of all the people.
