The Liberal Democrat Constitution starts by saying that we seek to “build and safeguard a fair, free and open society, in which it seeks to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community and in which no-one shall be enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity.”
This is particularly relevant in Sandwell, one of the poorest boroughs in the country. Labour has complete control of the Council. A LibDem presence is badly needed to scrutinise their policies and decisions to ensure they are in the best interest of all the people.
Our short to medium term goal is to regain our position as a strong and sensible opposition, making sure the Council’s policies are fair and fit for purpose.
Nationally, our party is at the forefront in fighting for a final say on any Brexit deal, and locally, we remain committed to working with all communities across the borough to campaign on issues that matter to local people.
There's plenty of work to do and we encourage members to get involved and join in by attending meetings and contributing ideas as well as getting involved in action days. If you’re not a member and want to support us, please drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org.
